Study Genesis Stories For All They Are Worth
COURSE PREVIEW
Genesis is a foundational book of the Bible. It is the very beginning of God’s revelation about himself. The course opens up with questions and explanations about the best practices in the study of the Bible and progresses to specific Genesis stories. Curiously, much of Genesis is in the form of stories.
This course is presented in a seminar style. It assembles several recorded discussions between IBC faculty: Yeshaya Gruber, Eli Lizorkin-Eyzenberg, Nicholas Schaser, Cindy Parker, and Tupa Guerra. The professors engage some key ancient texts from Genesis and add some supplemental material that helps clarify those passages. As experts in biblical studies, history, ancient texts, and geography, they ask many questions of each other, at times debating and disagreeing, offering each other alternative ways to interpret the stories. Since these were live interactive sessions, many questions they discuss come straight from the audience as they move from one story to another.
Instead of a single lecturer’s view, a whole team of experts brings their combined knowledge into these dialogues about Genesis. You will not be disappointed!
