Dr. Beth Alpert Nakhai is Associate Professor at the Arizona Center for Judaic Studies. An archaeologist and Biblical scholar, she co-directed the Tell el-Wawiyat Excavation Project in the Lower Galilee in Israel. She has written extensively about ancient religion and culture, especially the lives of women in ancient Israel and the Near East. Her books include Archaeology and the Religions of Canaan and Israel and the edited volume The World of Women in the Ancient and Classical Near East. Dr. Nakhai's works contain insights about ancient women and men, their lives in urban and rural areas, their occupations and religious practices, and how to interpret both Biblical and archaeological evidence.
