Dr. Peter van ’t Riet (retired professor, Windesheim University in Zwolle) is an independent Bible scholar and author who focuses on Jewish readings of the texts known to Christians as the New Testament. He is actively involved in Jewish-Christian relations. His books include: Luke, the Jew: An Introduction to the Jewish Character of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles; Paul, a Hellenistic Jew?; and The Image of Man in the Torah. Dr. van 't Riet discusses his fascinating and innovative ideas about the identity and character of Luke, the relations between Jews and non-Jews in the first century, the nature of midrashic interpretation, and competing visions of "the hope of Israel."
