Serge Ruzer studied at Moscow State University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem where he obtained his Ph.D. He currently teaches at Hebrew University in the Department of Comparative Religion and is a researcher at that university’s Center for the Study of Christianity where he is working on The Jerusalem Companion to the New Testament from Jewish Sources project.
Dr. Ruzer collaborates with the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research (Jerusalem Perspective). His interests and publications are in the area of Jewish literature of the Second Temple period, Syrian texts, New Testament Background, and Early Christianity. He recently published The Sermon on the Mount and Its Jewish Setting (edited jointly with H.J. Becker).
