Dr. Jodi Magness is Distinguished Professor of Early Judaism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and President of the Archaeological Institute of America. She has published numerous books and articles for a range of audiences, including: The Archaeology of the Holy Land; Dung, Oil and Spit: Jewish Daily Life in the Time of Jesus; and most recently Masada: From Jewish Revolt to Modern Myth. In this conversation with Dr. Yeshaya Gruber of the Israel Bible Center, Dr. Magness shares a wealth of information from famous digs at Masada, Huqoq, and other sites in Israel, along the way discussing Jewish ritual practices, daily life, and synagogue art of the early centuries CE/AD.
