
Ishay Rosen-Zvi teaches rabbinic literature in the department of Jewish Philosophy and Talmud at Tel-Aviv University. His many publications include: Demonic Desires: Yetzer Hara and the Problem of Evil in Late Antiquity; Body and Soul in Ancient Judaism; and (with Adi Ophir) Goy: Israel’s Others and the Birth of the Gentile. In this lively and thought-provoking discussion with Dr. Yeshaya Gruber of the Israel Bible Center, Prof. Rosen-Zvi expounds on the concepts of “Jew” and “Gentile” from biblical times to the present, addressing the many layers of complexity in ancient conceptions that continue to inform our own worldviews and religious practices today.
