Dr. Gary Rendsburg

Dr. Gary A. Rendsburg, distinguished Professor of Jewish History at Rutgers University, is a leading scholar of the Hebrew Bible. Prof. Rendsburg's new book, How the Bible is Written — an exploration of the literary genius permeating these ancient texts of Israel – covers history and archaeology, literature and language, Egyptian sources and the Exodus, Biblical maximalism and minimalism, and why the distinction between Israelite and Judahite dialects provides additional evidence for the reliability of the Bible. Prof. Rendsburg also co-authored a book with his teacher, the famous Cyrus Gordon, titled The Bible and the Ancient Near East.
