Guest Scholar

Dr. Jacob Wright is Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible at the Candler School of Theology of Emory University. His latest book, Why the Bible Began: An Alternative History of Scripture and its Origins, argues that the Bible exists as an unparalleled achievement in human history precisely due to its response to defeat and destruction. Out of the ashes emerged a “project of peoplehood” that is key to seeing past stereotypical religious and secular characterizations of this ancient holy library of Israel.
